Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 13, 2026

What we collect

  • Account: email address, hashed password (or Google account identifier if you sign in with Google).
  • Subscription: subscription status, billing period, and a customer identifier from our payment processor. We do not store your full card number, CVC, or expiry — those are handled by our payment processor.
  • Trip plans: if you build a trip plan, we store it in your browser (localStorage) — it does not leave your device unless you export or print it.
  • AI chat: messages you send to "Ask the Captain" are sent to our AI provider to generate a response. Chat sessions are not stored on our servers.

How we use it

To authenticate you, process subscription payments, provide access to the charts, and answer support questions. We do not sell your data. We do not run ad tracking on this site.

Third-party processors

  • Payment processor (for subscription billing and Apple Pay/card processing).
  • Cloud backend provider (for account, database, and hosting).
  • AI provider (for the "Ask the Captain" helper).
  • Map tile providers: OpenSeaMap, OpenStreetMap, Esri, OpenTopoMap.
  • NOAA CO-OPS (for tide predictions — no personal data sent).

Cookies and local storage

We use browser storage to keep you signed in, remember your invite code redemption, and save your trip plans. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Data retention and deletion

To delete your account and all associated data, contact us via the Venmo link in the site footer. Cancellation of your subscription does not automatically delete your account.

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g. EU/UK GDPR, California CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

We may update this policy at any time. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
